The book «100 amazing pieces from the Polytechnic Museum Collection» is a catalogue of objects that form the basis of the museum’s foundation. The publication marked the 150th anniversary of the museum. The curators and keepers of the Polytechnic Museum carefully selected and collected items for the catalogue. The catalogue includes both the most important pieces reflecting key milestones in the development of science and technology and the rarest ones, which are preserved or produced in small quantities or in a single copy. Here is the advance for the early 18th century of Guk’s microscope, Marshall, and by miracle the remaining mechanism of the wooden tower clocks of the village master self-smart, and the digital computing complex Argon-16, created by Soviet designers for spaceships and orbiting stations.
All objects in the catalogue are collected in 15 thematic sections, which are represented in alphabetical order, from «Aviation and Space Technology» to «Fotokino Equipment». Inside the sections, the exhibits are timed. The graceful design of the publication makes it possible to present objects not just as a collection of masterpieces of technical thought, but also as an art gallery.
