The theory of Metabolism

The concept of this project is based on the Metabolism Theory of Japanese modular architecture, which offers an approach to design based on the idea that buildings and urban structures can be perceived as living organisms that evolve, adapt and change over time. The ideas of metabolism are most accurately reflected in the design of the capsules of the architect Kisho Kurokawa. The cube-blocks are attached to the frame, like leaves to a branch, and are able to be removed and swapped. Also, each cube in Japanese metabolism is a full-fledged living unit. This principle is also applicable to clothing, which can become «alive». The cubes, taken as the basis of the visual code, are attached to the base with zippers and turn into a full-fledged product, where the cube shape was also introduced as a shaping element.
